ICI has recently implemented an improvement to the raw materials receving process by implementing a mobile shop floor data collection system. The new system is designed to allow material handlers to receive raw materials directly into ICI's ERP system wirelessly from anywhere within the Raw Materials Warehouse.

The system features a mobile cart with integrated shop floor data collection station, barcode scanner, barcode printer, and all necessary wireless network communications.

In addition to facilitating faster and more accurate material receipt entry, the system will also facilitate faster and more accurate physical inventory counts. The Raw Materials Warehouse was also upgraded with a wireless network that covers over 7,500 sq ft of warehouse.

This improvement was one of several Continuous Improvement projects currently planned at ICI.
